Using your drill, add tension to the torsion spring. This system uses a single spring for a double door, but many manufacturers use two springs for a double door. The painted line on the spring acts as a gauge for the number of turns you put on the spring. To keep the bar from turning while you’re adding tension, attach a locking pliers to the bar on both ends of the spring. Apply lubricant for garage doors to the spring.

Been a long time listener to WLAC and felt any advertisers they would present were reliable. Precision came quickly to determine what was need to fix my garage door for my car and a commercial size for my travel trailer. The technician was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what was needed to fix my doors. I recommend Precision for any garage door repair.
We live in a recently completed townhouse that was built with double-wall construction. That construction method was touted by the builder as what would keep sound from penetrating between the units. But we can hear the next door neighbors' TV and stereo, and sometimes voices and even snoring, through the wall. While sometimes it's the volume, mostly it's the bass sounds coming through the wall. They say they don't hear us, but we keep our bass turned down. They crank up the bass, and they are not going to change that. They also are not going to do anything construction-wise to help from their side. What is the best way for us to try to block the low frequency/bass sounds from penetrating the existing wall into our side?
Absolute Overhead Door Service was founded by Vince Heuser when he saw the need for a new garage door company that performed at a much higher standard than most companies in the local area. He understood and saw that the need for HONEST, knowledgeable, dependable, and friendly technicians was apparent and Absolute Overhead Door Service was then founded in 2007. With our extraordinary growth because of our outstanding service, we cover the entire Central Kentucky area including Louisville, Elizabethtown, Bardstown, and Southern Indiana. No other local company provides the convenient service hours that we do, 8am-6pm Monday-Saturday and Emergency Service after 6pm, Monday thru Friday, and on Sunday’s. We guarantee same day service on calls by 1pm and still get most service calls up to 4pm the same day.
Roller doors ("Sheet Doors"-USA) are usually constructed of corrugated steel. They evolved from cover window and door coverings. Other materials can be used (e.g.; transparent corrugated fibreglass) where strong impact resistance is not required. Corrugations give the door strength against impacts. A typical single car garage roller door has a preloaded spring inside the rolling mechanism. The spring reduces the effort required to open the door. Larger roller doors in commercial premises are not sprung (except USA) and use a manual pulley and chain system or a geared motor to raise and lower (roll up and roll down) the door. Roller doors cannot be effectively insulated.
With over 300 independently moving parts, your garage door is a deceptively complex piece of equipment. To help prevent malfunctions and break-downs, it is a good idea to occasionally perform a garage door tune-up to keep all of these parts in good working order. A regular tune-up service by a Sears professional can prevent unexpected door problems and prolong the life of your existing equipment.
A typical version of an overhead garage door used in the past would have been built as a one-piece panel. The panel was mounted on each side with unequal parallelogram style hinge lifting mechanism. Newer versions of overhead garage doors are now generally built from several panels hinged together that roll along a system of tracks guided by rollers. The weight of the door may be 400 lb (181.4 kg) or more, but is balanced by either a torsion spring system or a pair of extension springs. A remote controlled motorized mechanism for opening garage doors adds convenience, safety, and security.

The history of the garage door could date back to 450 BC when chariots were stored in gatehouses, but in the U.S. it arose around the start of the 20th century. As early as 1902, American manufacturers—including Cornell Iron Works—published catalogs featuring a "float over door." Evidence of an upward-lifting garage door can be found in a catalog in 1906.
Because garage doors are large, heavy, and mildly complicated, most people who buy them take advantage of these services. But, if you’re pretty adept at DIY tasks, you can save some money and enjoy the satisfaction of doing the job of installing a sectional garage door yourself. (Sectional garage doors travel up and down on rollers that ride along tracks at each side of the garage doorway.)
I had an unusual problem with my door opener that totally stumped 2 previous companies. They would sell me parts that did not fix the problem. Then I tried A1 Door Garage Service. A1 was also initially stumped, but kept exploring solutions. Even refunding my cost of parts I bought that did not resolve the issue. How's THAT for great service. After about 5 visits from A1 the problem is fixed. I am very pleased. JD from A1 stuck with it and did not give up until I was satisfied with the repair, and adjusted my final bill to reflect a refund of parts I purchased that did not fix the problem.
They sent Doug Fussell out to my house on the day after Christmas! I had only called them three days before! Doug was a premier technician, very thorough and very efficient. I expected him to take two days, since he was replacing two doors and adding openers on each door. He only took the daylight hours of one day! I could not believe how fast he was! In addition, he thoroughly taught me how to use the remote openers. I highly recommend them to anyone!
Sears offers two different drive mechanisms to accommodate your home and budget. If you're looking for a smooth and quiet opener for a garage door with rooms located above the garage or attached to the garage, the belt drive is going to be the best for you. You can also choose a chain drive opener, which is perfect for garages that are unattached to the home.
Locating a contractor - there are many professional overhead garage door companies. It is always advisable to contact at least three different agencies and request a bid or quote for the work. Be sure that each quote includes the costs for a few different types of doors, any installation fees, and the cost of wiring the electronic openers. Standard prices range from:
The amount of horsepower you need for your garage door opener is dependent on whether you want your opener to last longer or the size of your garage door. Garage door openers come in 3 different sizes, each of which are determined by a different horsepower. The chart below illustrates the 3 different horsepowers, their different uses, and average cost.
Remember, not all garage door springs are alike. They are not one size fits all. If yours breaks, make a note of the brand and color code on the spring you need to replace. We'll get you the garage door opener parts you need, from seal kits to torsion and extension spring kits. Save money by replacing garage door hardware instead of replacing the whole unit.
