It has the potential to be a good segment, but assuming all of the 'nightmares' might not be super obvious, I think instead of just laughing at pictures and making snarky comments, it would be helpful if they pointed out what exactly is wrong, why it's wrong, and what would be involved in remediating such a problem. With a home inspection as part of a real estate transactions, buyers are often faced with a decision of what to do with the information from the inspection- ex. do we walk away, asked for it to be fixed, just accept it, etc. So having the guys give that sort of context to the pictures would be helpful as well For example in the second photo with the little step, that might be really simple and cheap to fix, or maybe it requires a whole new porch be poured. Explaining that would make this so much better vs just snarking at the photo

@Neil What is the use of repeating lessons when there is so much more to be learned? Technology has moved on from the adz. Plumbers use PEC, insulation is sprayed, glue-lams allow for open floor plans and furnaces are no longer stoked with coal. As for the new people, if these trades cannot attract fresh blood we will all be unable to get homes built and repairs made. I don't yearn for my first home with the leaky concrete block foundation, failing well pump and an oil furnace held up by the plenum. I'll take heat pumps, solar panels and PVC waste pipes any day.You can get all the sill plate repairs and flitch beams demos you need on YouTube.
Thank you! Every time we walk into the garage we are thrilled because we have daylight. The doors are so quiet, we giggle that no one has been awakened by the racket that used to announce the doors being opened or closed. And the option of having an outside keyless entry is great too, It's just a wonderful feeling to know that you've fixed something and it was really worth it. Thanks again.

I was very happy with Precision Garage Door! They had Nick come out to my house the very day I called for help He was thorough in examining and explaining the condition of all of the parts of the garage door setup, problems I had, options, pricing. A spring had broken on our door just the day before, and Nick replaced the set of springs plus installed new "drones" (I believe, aka "wheels") and bearings, which were very old and wearing on the unit. I am absolutely satisfied thus far and would highly recommend Precision Garage Door. Also, Nick was professional, friendly, helpful, thorough, and easy to talk to. Thank you very much for your quick help in this situation!!!

Many garage door openers can be purchased with lighting features. The lighting features can be for security reasons or simply for light in the garage. The light is mounted right on the motor housing and will turn on when you use the opener. The light will stay on for approximately 15 to 30 seconds after the garage door is closed, but can also be turned on using a remote control or a wall-mounted switch. If your garage door opener does not come with lighting features, you can have them installed for roughly $50-$100. If you need to replace the light in the lighting fixture, a light bulb will cost $10-$15. You may need to hire an electrician for installation if the wiring is not in place. The cost to hire an electrician is $65-$85 per hour, and this process will only take an hour.
I am writing this review on 9/6/2018. We spent over $1000.00 on our garage door to have basically all new parts but that is not the reason for this review. After all of the work the door still closed rather hard, I called on Sunday 9/2/2018 and asked if someone could come by and check to see if it can be adjusted so it does not close so hard. I asked if there would be a charge and was told no. Today a tech named Adam came and my wife told me he was the most rude arrogant and condescending individual that has ever come to our home, My wife was so upset they way he talked down to her. You may want to call so she can give you the whole story. Our phone num
10The type of garage door shown provides the necessary lift assistance with a “torque tube.” If you intend to use an opener, wait to install the tube. Otherwise, install the torque tube according to the manufacturer’s directions. Roll up the door about 4 feet to check for the alignment of the tracks, and make any adjustments. Then tighten all fasteners.
When you install a new garage door, replace all the hardware as well. If your automatic opener doesn’t have an automatic reversing system that includes photoelectric eyes, replace it. Doors with openers also require two extra pieces of hardware that you’ll see in Photo 4: a support strut (usually included in the door kit) and an opener bracket (not included). For doors with torsion springs located over the door, spend the $50 or so to have a garage door professional release the tension.

They sent Doug Fussell out to my house on the day after Christmas! I had only called them three days before! Doug was a premier technician, very thorough and very efficient. I expected him to take two days, since he was replacing two doors and adding openers on each door. He only took the daylight hours of one day! I could not believe how fast he was! In addition, he thoroughly taught me how to use the remote openers. I highly recommend them to anyone!

I was having an issue with my garage door that turned out to simply be the remote lockout being accidentally engaged. I really appreciate businesses with a sense of integrity like that! If I ever have a real garage door problem, I will absolutely be calling these guys!
When your garage door starts acting up, more often than not it is telling you it's time to do a bit of maintenance. So, before hitting the panic button, try these simple repairs. First, examine the rollers and tracks. If you can't remember the last time you cleaned them (and they look the part!), give them a good brushing and then add some lubricant. Next, perform these simple garage door maintenance tasks.

We have been passionately serving our communities and their garage doors for over 20 years. We love to give back to all the people we serve each day and we try to show it by giving back to the community with charity events and small donations to our customers’ favorite charities! There is nothing more satisfying that being positively involved in the neighborhoods that we take care of every day. At Neighborhood Garage Doors, not only is making an impact in the community important to us, but we really care about your door. Having a well kept garage door is crucial to keeping your home safe because it is a favorite entry point for burglars. Along with safety and peace of mind, having a new and well maintained garage door increases the value and curb appeal of your home. If you find a great deal on new garage doors you can actually re coup more than what it cost to have them installed. The national average for recouped cost at resale for a garage door replacement is about 93%, so when it comes time to make the decision, you need to make sure you have a company on your side that will help guide you through the investment.
Extension spring systems should always be restrained by a safety cable that runs through the middle of the spring, tying off to a solid point at the rear and front of the horizontal door track. Extension springs represent a hazard to bystanders when a spring, pulley, or cable breaks under tension. Metal parts from extension spring systems can suddenly be launched.
The manager is very thorough in providing all the options with detail so that i can make a sound decision. He recommended the option he believe is the best but never pressure me into signing up for that. Just one small negative - Time management. I was booked on a 12-2pm window because of my meeting but got a call at 10:50am that the rep is on the way. I have to rush out of the meeting and drive home.

All measurements should be in feet and inches. Step 1, measure across the existing door or desired space for the width, then up and down for the height. The rough opening of your space should be the same size as the door. Step 2, measure the sideroom, which is the space beside your door. Measure the width of the left side, and then the width of the right side. Step 3, measure the space above the door, which is called the headroom. Measure the height of the distance between the top of the door opening and the ceiling. Step 4, measure the ceiling, which is called the backroom. You’ll need to measure the distance of the garage door opening toward the back wall of your garage. You should have 6 total measurements in all once you’ve finished measuring the space. Keep in mind that having an automatic garage door opener installed might call for additional backroom or ceiling space.
